SAM Juntional Tourniquet SJT

The SAM Junctional Tourniquet (SJT) stops bleeding in areas where conventional tourniquets are not effective. The SJT is used to stop bleeding in the groin and axilla.

The TCD (inflatable cushion) is placed proximally and inflated until the bleeding stops. Two TCDs may be placed when there is bleeding on both sides.

The SAM Junctional Tourniquet is also a SAM Sling and can be used to stabilize pelvic fractures. When the strap is tightened, the buckle locks when maximum pressure is reached, minimizing the risk of overcompression and other complications.
