Helikon-Tex® SQUALL Hardshell Jacket - TorrentStretch

The Squall Jacket from Helikon-Tex is a modern outer layer that provides effective protection against rain and snow. It is a hardshell jacket, which is a stronger layer that provides much better water resistance while maintaining good breathability. In contrast, a softshell jacket, like the Blizzard Jacket, is a soft layer that protects against light wind and drizzle, mainly due to the DWR impregnation.

The Squall Jacket features a TorrentStretch membrane, a 3-layer laminate that is waterproof and breathable at the same time. The microporous membrane between the stronger outer layer and the integrated lining prevents water from penetrating inside the jacket. At the same time, it is large enough to effectively remove moisture (in the form of water vapor) generated by the body to the outside. The TorrentStretch membrane has very good waterproof parameters, with 30,000 mm of the water column.

The Squall Jacket is a full-fledged rain jacket with taped seams and a two-way adjustable hood with a high collar. It also has waterproof YKK® AquaGuard® zippers, of which the main zipper is two-way and secured at the bottom with a Prym snap. The jacket has been covered with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) hydrophobic coating, which is free of harmful PFC (perfluorocarbons).

The TorrentStretch membrane has a breathability of 30,000 g/m2/24h, which is responsible for both water resistance and the transference of water vapor from the body. The Squall Hardshell has a RET evaporative resistance coefficient of <5 RET, which is very good. Underarm vents, adjustable cuffs fastened with hook & loop, and welts provide better ventilation and regulate body temperature.

The Hardshell Squall has been designed so that in winter an additional warming layer can be placed under it. With so many options to adjust the fit of the jacket to the body, you can easily adapt it to the weather conditions. The jacket is equipped with solid stoppers from Woojin.
